A year of war in Sudan has displaced 9 million people in the country. While most remain in Sudan about 2 million have fled to shelter in neighbouring countries including the Central African Republic (CAR), Chad, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Libya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda.

Nyapuot Riak Dup recalls the fateful day last April when a piece of shrapnel ripped through their house in Omdurman, Sudan and smashed a hole through the floor near where she was hiding.
She and her husband grabbed a few essentials and fled with their seven children and her 70-year-old mother. It was the start of a harrowing two-day journey to safety.
Nyapuod says they saw many bodies lying on the road as they fled, and the city had been reduced to ruins.
More than a year since deadly fighting erupted between two rival military factions in Sudan, over 9 million people have been forced to flee their homes, including 2 million people who have sought safety in neighbouring countries, mainly Chad, Egypt and South Sudan.
