Back before the pandemic I went out to to Las Vegas and spent an afternoon with Teddy Riley. I didn't know I was going to tape anything but ended up shooting parts of our conversation on a smart phone. The light in Teddy's studio was purple so the images were poor, but the sound quality was great. Teddy has an amazing life and impacted the direction of popular music. The stories in this clip revolve around the famous Rooftop roller rink where his Uncle Willie set him up with a studio. Later Teddy would famously record his first major hits in a Harlem apartment building. Why he moved from the Rooftop brings back the drama of the crack era.
