There is a waterway near me called Lake River. It is sort of a backwater that runs from Vancouver Lake to the Columbia River, past Ridgefield WA. It is fairly long, about 13 miles from the Columbia River to Vancouver Lake Park.

I have lived in this area for many years, and have never seen the entire length of Lake River. I have launched at Ridgefield many times, and rowed and sailed on Vancouver Lake even more. I thought it is time to check it out. So I rowed it, up and back, for a total of 26.7 statute miles, a good row!

I also rowed the fixed course that the Vancouver Lake Rowing club has set up for years, and uses for training and regattas. "...a premier 2,000 meter rowing course maintained by the PVRA – Portland Vancouver Rowing Association."

The time I posted is probably 30 seconds greater than if there had been a timer, but I am still way off Staci's pace! Her best time was 8:33 compared to my 13:13.

As the title suggests, some people think I am a little strange. And for sure I like getting out and about! That is why I am the Odd Man Out.
