Legendary Chinatown writer Robert Towne presents the Writers Guild of America, West’s Screen Laurel Award to Academy Award-nominated and WGA-winning screenwriter-director-actress Elaine May (Primary Colors, Heaven Can Wait) at the 2016 Writers Guild Awards West Coast ceremony.

The Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement is given to that member of the Guild who, in the opinion of the current Board of Directors, has advanced the literature of the motion picture through the years, and who has made outstanding contributions to the profession of the screen writer.

The Writers Guild Awards West Coast ceremony was hosted by actor-writer-comedian Patton Oswalt (Veep, Justified) on February 13, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

The Writers Guild Awards honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories.
