In North Carolina, election officials are working through any last-minute ballots that arrived Wednesday. They will continue to process and count those delivered by the Postal Service through Nov. 12, as long as they were postmarked by Election Day.
Charlotte resident, Christopher Leigh, didn't expect the race for the White House would be this close.
"It's just kind of hard to imagine that it would be this splitting hairs close," Leigh told The Associated Press.
Trump holds a narrow lead over Biden in the Tar Heel state.
The state board had extended the deadline for absentee ballots to be received at local election offices from Nov. 6 to Nov. 12 as part of a consent decree in a state lawsuit by voting rights advocates. They must be postmarked by Election Day.
"The next two weeks it's going to be a really confusing time in American history," Leigh said.
At stake in North Carolina are 15 electoral votes.
