In Search of Greek Theatre #5: The Oresteia (1999) - Part One | National Theatre

Описание к видео In Search of Greek Theatre #5: The Oresteia (1999) - Part One | National Theatre

Step into the National Theatre Archive and discover the stories behind our 1999 production of The Oresteia, the world's earliest dramatic masterpiece, and the practicalities of staging an ancient Greek play in a modern theatre building.

This trilogy by Aeschylus was presented in a new version by Ted Hughes and directed by Katie Mitchell. Other creatives involved with The Oresteia were: design by Vicki Mortimer, music by Melissa Holding and Joe Townsend, movement by Struan Leslie and lighting by Nigel J. Edwards.

In this first film about Katie Mitchell’s The Oresteia (1999) we’ll look at some of the records held in the National Theatre Archive and see how they give us insights into the world of the play, the use of the stage space and the way media and technology were used for dramatic effect.
