I was given this lamp many years ago from my grandfather, way back in the 1980s, I thought it was time to restore it to its glory, it has a tri color light system, for signaling trains, it uses a 6volt battery to luminate the light, so yes its electric, it was used by NSW TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT, from the 1950s to the 1970s.
