On August 3, 1964, Capitol Records released the Buck Owens single “I Don’t Care (Just As Long As You Love Me).” Over three months prior, Owens and his band performed the song in New York, live on The Jimmy Dean Show.

“I Don’t Care (Just As Long As You Love Me)” spent six weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. It also went to No. 1 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart and peaked at No. 92 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album of the same title was released on November 2, 1964, and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country albums chart and No. 135 on the pop albums chart.
