Here's a silent home movie film of a train derailment. Some footage was rough to transfer. This was at Sussex NJ. Right under the route 23 overpass, If my memory serves me right it was caused by a hot box on a bulk cement covered hopper. To the right is Sussex branch curving towards Sussex, also known as the (Decker Town Extension) in addition to the wrecker 700, the clamshell bucket cleaning up the spilled coal is Diesel- Electric crane 694, my guess the train had to be eastbound with coal and cement heading for Maybrook NY. for interchange with the New Haven RR. Forgive me as I have a bad habit of getting into details, sorry.

I thought you might be interested the steam wrecker was a 150 ton built by Industrial-Works latter to become Industrial Brownie Hoist, I think I spelled it correctly. The Diesel- Electric was built by American Hoist and Derick. Sorry can’t remember tonnage rating, but you have piqued my curiosity. I’ll have to start digging through my files.

The gentleman in the white Panama suit and hat I believe was Mr. S.T.W. Green president of the RR I.

Thanks to Craig Ealey for the history and ID!
