The smallest and darkest pelagic bird, famous for appearing before storms. Bali was flooded. Very difficult to observe due to its small size, dark, almost black plumage, and low, fast, bat-like flight.
Petrels live only in the open sea and mid-ocean. An unknown and mysterious species, they appeared to sailors before or during severe storms. Literally, a thunderbird that seemed impossible to observe or capture. Seafaring and navigational cultures around the world are familiar with these birds and share similar stories and legends linking them to storms.
The notorious dragon Thootless ftom "How To Train Your Dragon" can be put in relation with this elusive bird.

I observed this bird while crossong the legendary Wallace line. The invisible limit for so many bird species . But petrel don't just don't care for Thyphoon and neither for mighty Wallace line
