Cost Efficient Style. The Magnetic Decklid Blackout Panel is a great rear appearance mod for owners of S197 Mustangs between 2010-2012. It provides a bold new look and definitely adds to the car’s aggressive appeal. This is an excellent starter appearance modification because of its affordability and ease of installation. The look achieved with this decklid panel resembles the sleek classic style of the rear decklid panels on the early 70s Mustangs. A matte black panel surrounds the rear decklid for extra touch.
Magnetic Design. The magnetic composition of the decklid panel makes this product an obvious winner, making this one of the easiest mods to install. It essentially installs the same as a fridge magnet. They are precision cut for a fitting that appears to have come straight from the factory. No drilling is required since the magnetism is the only thing needed to secure the decklid panel. A precut hole in the center of the panel allows for a perfect fit around the trunk emblem so that does not need to be removed.
Installs Quickly. No tools will be needed for this simple task since your new rear decklid blackout panel sticks magnetically. All you will need to do is clean it right out of the packaging with soap and water then inspect for flatness. If it isn't perfectly flat, you can lay the panel under a mattress for a few hours and this usually works. Others have also reported successfully ironing out any bumps and folds by laying a towel over top of the panel and applying the iron. These methods can be attempted at the individual’s discretion and others suggestions are available around the web. Once flattened, simply line the rear decklid up appropriately and stick on when satisfied. The panel can be taken off and reapplied as many times as needed without doing any damage. 15 mins is all the cleaning and installing will take but note that some time will be needed if flattening is required.
