STORYLINE:
Hundreds of mourners and family members attended Thursday the funeral Yoram Metzger in the southern Israeli Kibbutz of Nir Oz.

80 year-old Metzger was one of the six hostages whose bodies were recovered from Gaza by the Israeli military earlier this week.

He was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz on Oct. 7 along with his wife Tamar, who was released during a November ceasefire deal after 50 days in captivity.

“There, with the bad conditions of Khan Younis (city in southern Gaza Strip) you were with mom, a small consolation you were together until she was freed in hostages deal, and you were among friends until you were murdered in cold blood” said his son, Nir Metzger, speaking during the funeral.

“Yoram, you are one of the people abandoned by the Prime Minister (Benyamin Netanyahu) who does not see people, he doesn't care about the suffering and the pain you and us experienced" said Aila, Metzger’s daughter in law.

The Israeli military said Tuesday that its forces recovered the bodies in an overnight operation in southern Gaza.

Together with Metzger, the army identified the bodies of another five hostages Yagev Buchshtab, Alexander Dancyg, Avraham Munder, Nadav Popplewell, and Haim Perry, without saying when or how they died.

Hamas is still believed to be holding around 110 hostages captured in the Oct. 7 attack. Israeli authorities estimate around a third of them are dead.
