Volume 2 marks the end of the mediocre 'intro' segment of Made in Abyss - but it's certainly not bad. Volume 2 sets the stage for the Lovecraftian horror and nightmare fuel that is to come in the following volumes of MIA, and - don't you worry - we'll get there.

This is part 2 of our little series, aimed at explaining, exploring, analyzing, reviewing and making theories regarding Akihito Tsukushi's pitch black magnum opus - and even looking at a few of the controversies around the anime and manga.
