Musical storytelling at its most instinctual: Esme Allen-Creighton at TEDxUD

Canadian violist Esme Allen-Creighton was born in Montreal, Quebec, where she is currently finishing doctoral work with Jutta Puchhammer at the University of Montreal. Allen-Creigton joined the faculty of the University of Delaware in September 2011. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School in New York with Heidi Castleman and Steven Tenenbom of the Orion String Quartet, and she most recently left a faculty position at the Crane School of Music (SUNY Potsdam).

Winner of numerous prizes and scholarships, most notably the Flora Matheson Goulden String Prize (awarded to the highest marked conservatory string player in Canada) and the 2006 Viola Congress Canadian Music Competition, Allen-Creighton is much in demand as a solo, orchestral and chamber musician. Featured soloist of both the 2006 International and 2009 Canadian Viola Congresses, some of her most recent projects have included performances with the contemporary ensemble Orchestre 21, the chamber music ensemble Arkea, the Sinfonia de Lanaudière and included concerts with the Serafin String Quartet, UD's Master Players Concert Series and the Manhattan Symphonie at Carnegie Hall.

At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
