In Ekwulobia, Dr. Partrick Ifeanyi Ubah, the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District and a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, delivered a 500 KVA transformer to a section of the Ekwulobia town in Aguata LGA. This was in response to the request made by Hon. Afam Ezenwafor, the leader of the Afamation Movement, who had drawn the attention of the Senator on the deplorable state of power supply in the area, the need for upgrade, complete replacement.
Accordingly, 500KVA generator donated was an intervention support to replace the old, malfunctioning 300 KVA transformer which has served for a period of 43 years. Records has it that it was installed in 1981.
In his remarks, Senator Ubah said, " We are here in Ekwulobia through the request that the Afamation group made, to present the transformer. The previous one installed by Dr. Jim Nwobodo, in 1981 a 300 KVA capacity transformer being used by two villages, Ula and parts of Okpo, which has become mis functional. I have made available a higher capacity which is 500 KVA to enhance quality, sustainable power supply for the area."
The Senator also said, the list of his intervention in Ekwulobia town transcend the provision of electricity transformer, to include: building of hospital, installation of Solar powered streetlights, he pledged to do more for the people.
In response, the leadership of the Ula village, spoke in appreciation of the good gesture done for the people. They presented special kolanut as a sign of appreciation to the Senator.
Various leaders in attendance spoke to show their satisfaction.
Ekwulobia Royal Council, ably represented, leaders of Ula community, party chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC, youths, members and key leaders of the Afamation Movement were in attendance to receive the Senator.
The Afamation movement which is a group of Progressives, people who share and hold diverse political views, composition of people with varying political party ideologies, affinities and, affiliations with common goal and aspirations for good governance and development, held a session with Sen. Dr. Partrick Ifeanyi Ubah at the residence of Hon. Afam Ezenwafor, the leader of the Movement, still in Ula Ekwulobia.
Reiterating the purpose of his visit, Sen. Ubah said, as part of the discussions with the leadership of the movement on salient needs of the people, he has made available the sum of 3 million naira to aide medical supplies in the hospital he had built for the people. Speaking to party faithfuls, members and leaders of the Afamation movement, Dr. Ubah said there is the need for the people to look in the direction of emerging at the centre to participate in the polity of the nation.
Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah described the Anambra State's ruling party All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA as weak, insufficient to navigate, bargain the power sharing privileges and dividends of Democracy for the people of Anambra State. He said that the 18 years of the party being incharge of the state as a ruling party has been counter productive.
The exercise of the community visit and interaction with the Afamation Movement took place few days after the news of the defection of the leader of Afamatiion Movement, Hon. Afam Ezenwafor, into the Nigeria's ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC.
