🛕4K 🇹🇭🇨🇳 Taifo Hall, Chaozhou | Thai Buddhism In China | 潮州 泰佛殿 วัดไทยพุทธ Temple Walking Tour

Hello & thank you (ขอบคุณครับ) for joining me here behind the Great Firewall, I'm glad to have you with me.

It feels like we're back in amazing Thailand today as we explore a unique Theravada Buddhist temple in China built in the beautiful Thai architectural style.

Taifo Hall, also known as Taifo Palace (Thai: วัดไทยพุทธ; Chinese: 泰佛殿), is a Thai Buddhist temple located in Chaozhou, Guangdong province. Constructed with the generous donations of Thais, Chinese & others in 1992 as an extension of Chaozhou's Kaiyuan Temple, the main building enshrines a bronze statue of a seated Siddhartha Gautama (พระโคตมพุทธเจ้า; 释迦牟尼) in the Maravijaya attitude, an attitude of Buddha in Thai Buddhism & art. It is nearly 10 ft (3 meters) high & weighs 1.65 tons (1,500 kgs). The ceiling & walls of the hall are decorated with beautiful patterns as well as paintings about the life of Prince Siddhartha on his path to Nirvana.

Enshrined on the eastern side of the complex & akin to Bangkok's Erawan Shrine, is a lovely statue of Phra Phrom (พระพรหม; 梵天，四面佛，四面神), the Thai representation of the Hindu creator god Brahma also called the Four Faced God, Buddha & Brahma interchangeably.
