This video describes our programs and activities in SEAMEO RECFON (Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization - Regional Centre for Food and Nutrition)

SEAMEO RECFON is one of the 21 SEAMEO Centres in the Southeast Asian region and one of the 6 SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia. It is a unit under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia, and located at campus of Universitas Indonesia.

SEAMEO RECFON has a long history since its initial placement at Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia. It was started back in 1970 as SEAMEO-Tropical Medicine National Centre for Regional Training and Research in Nutrition and Food Sciences. The history has marked the transformation of the Centre’s name into SEAMEO TROPMED (Tropical Medicine and Public Health) RCCN (Regional Centre for Community Nutrition) since 1992 that reflect the shift of the Centre’s program focus. Rapid development of nutrition science including the need on comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to overcome the multi facets of the current nutritional problems is one of the main rationales of the changing name into SEAMEO RECFON on 27 January 2011.

SEAMEO RECFON is established with a Vision to be the center of excellence in human resource development in the area of food and nutrition in South East Asia. Its Mission is to conduct research, training, capacity building, and information dissemination in food and nutrition through partnership for sustainable human resource development.

SEAMEO RECFON works based on integrity, excellence striving, commitment, team work, respect on cultural diversity, and partnership as its Core Values. It includes the following Strategies 1) Maximizing alumni network, partnership, and collaborations, 2) Encouraging mainstreaming policy towards health and nutrition at local government, 3) Adapting to the changing global situation, 4) Using updated and appropriate science and technology, 5) Continuous staff learning and personnel growth, and 6) Operating on good governance and sound financial standing

The Centre focuses its programs and activities into 4 main areas, namely Capacity Building/Seminar & Workshop, Community Development, Research & Consultancy, and Degree Training Programs. The program and activities are run by dynamic and young professionals with qualified backgrounds.
