I would imagine most of the folks who watch my videos will be familiar with the original Paperboy arcade game from Atari. It remains an enduring classic that made the seemingly mundane task of delivering newspapers a total blast.

Released in 1991, Paperboy 2 was released exclusively for home consoles and computers, and was never released in the arcades. The gameplay is practically identical to the original, although delivery routes are longer, and there are more hazards and obstacles to deal with.

As before, the objective is to make sure all subscribers on a given street get their daily paper delivered by tossing it into a mailbox or on to the front porch. Houses you miss (or subsequently damage) will unsubscribe, although these can be regained by scoring a.perfect round.

Of course, non-subscribers are fair game for a few well-placed broadsheets through the window. Damaging parts of the property earn bonus points, including any unsuspecting passerby who happens to be in the way.

The other addition to the game is a female "Papergirl", as featured in this longplay.

Personally, I think Paperboy 2 is a bit long in the tooth. It continues the legacy of it's coin-op parent admirably, although the gameplay would have seemed simplistic even by 1991 standards.
