Manchester Caribbean Carnival 2023 as parade takes to streets of Moss Side and Hulme

Music, colour and celebration was the order of the day as Manchester celebrated its annual Caribbean Carnival.

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Moss Side and Hulme for a vibrant parade in and around Alexandra Park on Saturday, and the carnival continued into Sunday.

Thankfully the Mancunian weather held off, with the party in full swing.

This year's event marks the city's 51st carnival, with it's half century being celebrated last year.

But there is also another important anniversary being marked this year, as it is 75 years since the arrival of the Windrush generation.

The parade earlier this afternoon featured a range of dance troupes, music and eye catching outfits.

The carnival is estimated to attract up to 60,000 visitors each year, and is a celebration of community, heritage and music with more music, delicious food and good vibes in store for the rest of the weekend.

Organisers have arranged eight stages of entertainment throughout the weekend, with British-Jamaican dancehall artist Stylo G announced as the main headliner.
