Pregnant Supriya Chakraborty, a resident of Narayanpur Kokihati area, was admitted on August 13. She gave birth to a baby the next day at Baguiati Deshbandhu Nagar Hospital, where both the mother and baby are doing well, the hospital authorities said. They were supposed to be released today but suddenly it was announced that the newborn died in the morning. After that, the family of the dead child staged a protest accusing the hospital of negligence in treatment. Allegedly, the child had spots on his body and was not properly cared for. As a result of which the child died. When the family members went to Baguihati police station to file a complaint, the police refused to take the complaint saying the matter was beyond their jurisdiction and asked them to go to the health facility. After that, when the police went to the hospital, the family members protested around them. The family demanded that the cause of the child's death be investigated.
