Strängnäs Sweden

Strängnäs, the locality of Strängnäs Municipality and, Strängnäs is located by charming on the shores of Lake Mälaren and 45 minutes away from Stockholm. The town belongs to Södermanland County, Sweden’s most important towns during the medieval times as the town became the seat of the bishop. Gustav Vasa was elected king of Sweden in Strängnäs.
The first newspaper in Sweden was published in Strängnäs in 1624.
In 1944 the town was bombed by disoriented Soviet forces.
