This Independence Day, as our nation marks 78 years of freedom, we honour the strength, discipline and unflinching courage of all the women who serve in the Indian Army. In 1992, when doors were opened to women in non-medical roles for the first time, a new chapter in military history was written. Since then, countless women have turned their calling into service, proving that courage knows no boundaries.

Among them are 10 extraordinary warriors whose voices you will hear in their own words. They speak of the battles fought in silence, the sacrifices made without hesitation and the pride of wearing the uniform. They are the evolving face of India’s defence forces, leading from the front with an unwavering spirit, guarding our tomorrow so the rest of us can live free today.
