Описание к видео Port Isaac - Cornwall - England - 4K Virtual Walk - July 2020

Join us for a full virtual tour of Port Isaac, Cornwall. Our walk starts on the South West Coast Path with glorious views of the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac. Made famous by the British television series Doc Martin and the male singing group Fisherman's Friends. Our walk was filmed on a beautiful summers day in July 2020. From high up on the South West Coast Path we make our way down Roscarrock Hill. Here you will see Doc Martin's Surgery (Fern Cottage) a picturesque detached stone cottage with sensational views over Port Isaac harbour, the quaint village and the sea. The cottage is used as the surgery in the television series, Doc Martin starring Martin Clunes. Fern Cottage is available for rent as a 2 bedroom self catering holiday cottage. We wander down to the harbour and beach and explore the cute narrow streets with gorgeous cottages, many available to rent for holidays. Our walk finishes on the South West Coast Path on the opposite side to where we started.

Due to technical issues with the sound on the day we've had to unfortunately replace the audio. The audio used has been matched as best as we can so hopefully it won't affect your enjoyment.

Port Isaac has been an attractive fishing village since the early fourteenth century. Its narrow, winding streets are lined with old white-washed cottages and traditional granite, slate-fronted Cornish houses, many of which are listed as of architectural or historic importance. From the Middle Ages until the middle of the 19th century, Port Isaac was a busy port handling various imports and exports, including coal, timber, pottery and Delabole slate. In fact the name Port Isaac is derived from the Cornish Porth Izzick meaning the 'corn port'. After the advent of the railways, it became principally a fishing port.

Doc Martin is a British television medical comedy drama series starring Martin Clunes in the title role. The programme is set in the fictional seaside village of Portwenn and filmed on location in the village of Port Isaac, Cornwall, United Kingdom. Nine series aired between 2004 and 2019, with a television film airing on Christmas Day in 2006. The ninth and most recent series aired on ITV from September 2019, and streamed in the United States and Canada on Acorn TV. In April 2020 the tenth series was confirmed by director Nigel Cole.

The Fisherman's Friends are a male singing group from Port Isaac, Cornwall, who sing sea shanties. They have been performing locally since 1995, and signed a record deal with Universal Music in March 2010. Whilst essentially an a cappella group, their studio recordings and live performances now often include traditional simple instrumentation. Their performances combine traditional songs of the sea with more contemporary folk music and a large dash of humour. In the original line-up, all of the members of the group "grew up within half a mile of Port Isaac harbour" except for John McDonnell who is a Yorkshireman. Three were fishermen, and the others are linked to the sea through service as coastguards or lifeboatmen.

In 2009 BBC Radio presenter Johnnie Walker was in Cornwall on holiday and happened to come across two of their home made CDs. Walker's manager, Ian Brown, then travelled to Port Isaac and was able to negotiate a recording contract worth £1 million for them with Universal Music Group who released their first commercial album the following year. Their first album with Universal, Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends, was recorded in St Kew Parish Church, Cornwall, and released in April 2010.

They have performed at the 2010 Cornbury music festival in Oxfordshire, the Glastonbury Festival on several occasions, typically on the Acoustic Stage, but on one occasion performing on the Pyramid Stage and the Cambridge Folk Festival. The band have also appeared at Towersey Festival, Wickham Festival, Beautiful Days, Costa Del Folk, Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Tunes in the Dunes, Boardmasters and Celtic Connections. They also often perform in Port Isaac, regularly singing on the platt (beach) in the summer for charity.

The 'Fisherman's Friends' feature film was released in cinemas nationwide in the UK on 15 March 2019. All members of the band had cameos in the film. The singing is a blend of the voices of the group themselves and of the actors. In May 2019 a sequel titled Fisherman’s Friends 2: Bound For South Australia was announced which will take them from performing at Glastonbury to struggling to put their second album together.
