Bang Rak is one of Bangkok‘s busier areas and a major commercial district, Sathon a little quieter. Both are part of the 50 districts of the world’s most visited city.
Bang Rak is known for banking, nightlife and skyscrapers like Mahanakhon, State Tower, Jewelry Trade Center. Other historic buildings are concentrated in the waterfront Charoen Krung area, including the nineteenth-century Portuguese and French embassies, Customs House, East Asiatic Building, and original Author's Wing of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Other luxury hotels: Shangri-La and the Royal Orchid Sheraton. Another major landmark on Si Lom Road: Sri Mahamariamman Temple. Other notable temples: Wat Maha Phruettharam, Wat Hua Lamphong, Wat Suan Phlu, Wat Muang Khae. Big church: Assumption Cathedral.
Sathon is named after Sathon Road and Khlong Sathon. Sathon Road marks the northern boundary of the district. Along the Road: up-scale hotels, the famous „Robot Building“, the Apostolic Nunciature of The Holy See, the Blue Elephant cooking school. Notable temples: Wat Yannawa, Wat Don, Wat Prok. Church: Saint Louis Church.
