The Celtic B team picked up three points on the road with a 4-3 win over Gala Fairydean Rovers in Galashiels.

Despite being behind for the majority of the game, the young Hoops continued to fight right up until the 89th minute when Adam Brooks scored the winner, and his second of the game.

It was a slow start, with few chances for either side. The first came after six minutes when Tsonaelo Letsosa charged down the right flank and into the box, but his attempt to cut the ball back was intercepted by the keeper.

The Hoops continued to press, attempting to create chances but it was the home side who opened the scoring on the 18th minute when a dangerous cross was slotted home by Lewis Hall.

There were few clear-cut chances for the B team throughout the first-half, and those that came failed to challenge the Gala Fairydean Rovers goalkeeper.

The home team led 1-0 at the break and looked to add to their lead after a lively start in the second half. On the 47th minute, they won a free-kick from just outside the box which was cleared by Letsosa, but they continued to put the Celts under pressure when a subsequent shot just flew wide of the post.

On the 55th minute, Stephen McManus made his first substitution of the game which saw Mackenzie Carse and Joey Dawson make way for Matthew Anderson and Brooks.

Brooks made an instant impact off the bench as he found himself in the perfect place to tap in a cross from Rocco Vata, bringing the scores back to level terms on the 59th minutes.

However, the home team responded quickly and just one minute later, Lewis Hall chipped the ball over Josh Clarke to get his second and put his team back in the lead.

With 61 minutes gone, Josh Dede came off for Ben McPherson and the B team continued to face more pressure from the Galashiels side.

A chance for the young Hoops came on the 71st minute when Letsosa weaved his way through players and into the area, cutting the ball back to Ben Summers who was running into the box.

Summers’ strike came straight off a defender and Gala Fairydean Rovers hit on the counter-attack and eventually, Anderson had to make a crucial clearance off the line.

The Bhoys continued to push forward and it paid off on the 77th minute when Vata’s powerful strike hit the back of the net, putting the B team level once again.

The game stepped up a notch in its intensity from there on and it didn’t take long for the Celts to get another. Just three minutes later, Anderson put Celtic into the lead for the first time in the afternoon with a stunning strike from outside the box that flew into the top left corner.

The lead didn’t last long, however, as the home team responded immediately to level the scores, which made it look like the Hoops would have to settle for a point.

With chances end to end, it was a frantic final few minutes as both teams desperately tried to clinch the winner, but right at the death, Brooks sealed the victory on the 89th minute with his second goal of the day as he was there for the rebound after Thomson hit the crossbar.

Next up in the Lowland League for Celtic FC B team is a trip to Foresters Park, as they face Tranent Juniors next Saturday.
