Adlertag ("Eagle Day") was the first day of Operation Eagle Attack on August 13th, 1940, which was the codename of a military operation by Germany's Luftwaffe (German air force) to overwhelm the British Royal Air Force and to lay the groundwork for an invasion of Britain by Germany.
