২৭ বছর ধরে আদায় করা হচ্ছে ময়মনসিংহের বাংলাদেশ-চীন মৈত্রী সেতুর টোল। দীর্ঘদিনেও টোল আদায় বন্ধ না হওয়ায় ক্ষুব্ধ এই অঞ্চলের মানুষ। টোল আদায় বন্ধ না হলে আন্দোলনের কর্মসূচী দেয়ার হুঁশিয়ারি দিয়েছেন জেলা নাগরিক আন্দোলনের নেতারা।

তবে সড়ক ও সেতু মন্ত্রী ওবায়দুল কাদের জানান, বিষয়টি অর্থমন্ত্রী ও প্রধানমন্ত্রীর নজরে আনা হবে।

১৯৯১ সালে উদ্বোধনের পর থেকেই আদায় করা হচ্ছে ময়মনসিংহের পাটগুদাম এলাকায় ব্রহ্মপুত্র নদের ওপর নির্মিত বাংলাদেশ-চীন মৈত্রী সেতুর টোল। দীর্ঘ ২৭ বছরেও টোল আদায় বন্ধ না হওয়ায় ক্ষুব্ধ এই অঞ্চলের পরিবহন চালক ও মালিকরা। বর্তমানে প্রতিটি যানবাহন থেকে আকার ভেদে ১০ টাকা থেকে ২৫০ টাকা করে টোল আদায় করা হচ্ছে।

পরিবহন মালিক ও চালকদের অভিযোগ, কোনো নিয়মনীতি ছাড়াই বছর বছর টোল আদায়ের হার বৃদ্ধি করায় বিপাকে পড়েছেন তারা।

জেলা নাগরিক আন্দোলনের নেতারা বলছেন, পাটগুদাম সেতুর টোল আদায় বন্ধ করা না হলে আন্দোলনের কর্মসূচী দেয়া হবে।

ময়মনসিংহ সাধারণ সম্পাদক জেলা নাগরিক আন্দোলনের প্রকৌশলী নুরুল আমীন কালাম বলেন, 'পরিবহন মালিক এবং শ্রমিক যারা আছে তাদের ওপর একটা গজবের মতো চলে আসছে দীর্ঘ পঁচিশ-ছাব্বিশ বছর। তাই আমরা অনুরোধ করবো, অবিলম্বে এই টোল আদায় বন্ধ করা হোক।'

Engineer Nurul Amin Kalam, General Secretary of Mymensingh general secretary, said, "The transport owners and laborers who are on the same side are being screwed like a 25-year-long twenty-six years. So we will request that the toll be stopped immediately. "
