eGPU Implementation GTX 780 Ti OS X Mac Mini 2012 and Macbook Pro 2011

Описание к видео eGPU Implementation GTX 780 Ti OS X Mac Mini 2012 and Macbook Pro 2011

I'd like to share my eGPU implementation using Mac Mini 2012 and my old MBP 13-inch 2011.

Hardware
Sonnet Echo III-D/AkiTio Thunder2
GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB (I previously own a GTX 770 as show in my previous video)
Apple Cinema Display/Thunderbolt Display (I previously own an ASUS gaming monitor. Returned it and replaced with a refurbished Cinema display instead)
RM 450 Corsair PSU

Here's how I setup this eGPU.
1. Install the CUDA drivers and NVIDIA Web Driver. Modify the KEXT Files. Restart MBP/Mac Mini
2. From my Mini or MBP, I connected the Thunderbolt Cable to Sonnet or AkiTio ThunderBolt Port.
3. I installed the GTX 780 to 16x slot of AkiTio or Sonnet and powered thru the 6/8 pin from PSU
4. Power On and voila!

Playing games high setting on Steam is flawless even on a 27 inch display. This only shows that even for the older model and entry level MBP, you would be able to play games on this setup (with Thunderbolt port). Even the benchmarks are giving me a decent FPS.

Here's the link of my previous implementation and tutorial on how to edit and modify the KEXT files needed for OS X eGPU implementation.
