Welcome to Nongkhyllem wildlife sanctuary, a conserved habitat of elephants, clouded leopard and many other wild animals along with a rich biodiversity of flaura and fauna. I've never been to such a jungle as deep as this one and it's not meant for the faint hearted. The area spread 29sqkm in this part of ribhoi district covering major parts of the umtrew river. We trek 8kms inside the jungle with a safari jeep and later on foot. The jungle is so thick that we thought we were lost at one point of time. To make it worse, we were accompanied with leeches hanging on to our skin and clothes throughout the way. You really need to watch this if you haven't seen a real jungle in Meghalaya.
