Описание к видео WLG DEFY THE SUPREME COURT TO GUT YOUR FIREARM RIGHTS

Qld Police’s Weapons Licencing Group is pushing to punish people found innocent. Parliament and the Courts already said no—now it’s your turn.

Queensland Police Service’s Weapons Licensing Group (WLG) seem to think they know better than both State Parliament and the Supreme Court of Queensland, as evidence emerges of the firearm registrar’s latest attempt to undermine long-standing legal foundations.

Their latest attack on shooters is trying to get the legislation changed so that “No Conviction Recorded” offences, or offences where the person was found innocent, or were charged but later dropped, can be used to disqualify otherwise suitable applicants from obtaining a firearms licence.

A recent Supreme Court of Queensland case, Commissioner of Police v XPR - [2025] QCA 93 held that “no conviction recorded” offences cannot be considered when deciding to issue a firearms licence, as the whole point of “no conviction recorded” is to prevent the offence being used against defendant after the trial – and a fundamental bedrock of our democracy is “innocent until proven guilty”, which means mere allegations (charges) which have not been taken to court cannot be treated as proof someone has committed an offence, because legally they are innocent until a court says otherwise.

You might remember last year when WLG sneakily tried to use the Community Safety Bill to refuse/cancel gun licences for having a ‘no conviction recorded’ offence, like the elderly farmer who got a ‘no conviction recorded’ for incorrectly storing broken, non-operational firearms.

This was such a bad idea that all sides of politics (even the Greens!) said “No Way!” and current Police Minister Dan Purdie (who was in opposition at the time) absolutely slapped WLG down over the issue in Parliament.

So guess what’s happened now? WLG have just told us that they’re trying this on again in the wake of XPR, and this time, and they not only want the laws changed to take licences from people with ‘no conviction recorded’ offences but a bunch of other stuff too, including speeding fines and matters that have been charged but later dropped.

Partly they want to shift attention from the damning Commissioner’s 100-Day Review of the Queensland Police Service, which says that WLG is failing to “proactively detect high-risk individuals or patterns of firearm misuse”.

Instead of focussing on people who are genuinely high-risk to own firearms (such as violent criminals), WLG are just trying to get rid of as many licences as they can for any flimsy reason, because they simply can’t cope with the number of licences and registered firearms.

This seems to be about payback.

We believe a handful of thwarted lefties in WLG (mostly civilians) are so angry the LNP is in power that they’re doing anything they can to try to humiliate the government – and Dan Purdie especially, given he was so vocal in his opposition to the idea the first time around.

Nothing makes a government look incompetent quite like making them accept bad policy that they previously said no to.

This has nothing to do with public safety – we think this is all about public servants abusing their position to get political revenge, and once again, responsible, law-abiding firearms users are the ones who get a kicking.

While we push back against this at Ministerial and MP level, we need your help to let politicians know this is a real issue with serious ramifications across the entire community.

Please contact your local MP about this matter and tell them you are horrified that a Government department are not only trying to ignore Parliament and the Courts, but persisting in pushing an agenda they have been explicitly told to drop.

Bureaucrats do not, and should not, get to make laws!
