A special POCSO court in Prayagraj has directed the Jhunsi Police Station to register an FIR against Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati following allegations of sexual exploitation involving minors. The petition, filed by Ashutosh Brahmachari Maharaj, alleges the abuse of at least 20 minor boys, known as 'batuks', at the Vidyamath Ashram. The court's order follows the examination of statements from the victims. Swami Avimukteshwaranand has strongly denied the charges, labeling them as false and claiming the accuser has a criminal record. He further asserted, 'We are not Yogi Adityanath who drops the charges. Truth will eventually emerge.' Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has come out in support of the Swami, alleging a political conspiracy by the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government to suppress his voice. Supporters have called for the investigation of evidence, including pendrives, claiming the case is a fabrication that will be proven false in court.
