Interactive Pattern Editing and Simulation - Episode 1: The Shirt

Описание к видео Interactive Pattern Editing and Simulation - Episode 1: The Shirt

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. I have been lost in the lab for too many months working on this technology. I think it’s time to emerge again.

While in the lab, I found that automatically creating high quality simulation models from existing 3d models of garments was challenging and could only produce really good results after a lot of hand tweaking. The problem was that these models were all designed to look good when rendered, but not necessarily to have realistic cloth structure inside. On the other hand, I found the learning curve for more sophisticated tools daunting. What I wanted was a way to make a wide variety of clothing that followed in the spirit of magical morphing that first drew me to Poser.

This video shows what I hope can be an initial solution to that problem. It shows a single pattern - The Shirt - combined with a bunch of morph dials and tubes that can be added to each of the four openings in a shirt pattern.

More news on where this is going and what you can go with it is coming real soon now. Watch this space.
