My reconstruction is not directly comparable to Lovejoy's. I only had access to a surface scan of the fossil, not a CT scan. As a result, I am unable to separate out the entire three dimensional surface of each bone fragment. This means that I can change the orientation of blocks of bone relative to each other, but not perfectly rearticulate them. Despite this limitation, the reconstruction demonstrates two facts:
1. Lucy's pelvis would not properly articulate without reconstruction.
2. Repositioning the hip joint produces proper articulation of the pubic joint and a more human-like orientation of the ilium.
