Sky News host Paul Murray says first Australia was punished by China for calling for a global inquiry into COVID-19 and now “we’re to be punished because of whatever the heck Donald Trump’s going to do”.

An article published in the “propaganda sheet” the Global Times warned Australia saying it would be “extremely dangerous for Canberra to become a player in a diplomatic club led by the US” if President Trump “plunges the world into a ‘new cold war’”.

“Once Australia is regarded as a supporter of the US in a ‘new cold war,’ China-Australia economic ties will inevitably suffer a fatal blow,” the article read.

“This is direct propaganda from the Chinese Communist Party,” Mr Murray said.
