Nehemiah received a bad report about the condition of his people and the city of Jerusalem, which are in great trouble and disgrace, for the wall of Jerusalem has been turned down and its gates have been destroyed by fire. Like Nehemiah, we are also surprised by some sad reports, but what matters is how we respond to those reports. Upon hearing the disheartened report, Nehemiah responded well by praying and asking God for His favor for him to help his countrymen, who were in great trouble and disgrace.
