What is HbA1c (A1c)?

Описание к видео What is HbA1c (A1c)?

HbA1c is a commonly used, albeit not very user friendly, diabetes term, so it's important to understand what exactly HbA1c is and what role it plays in modern day diabetes care.

Simply put, HbA1c is an average measure of how well controlled your blood sugar levels have been over the previous 2-3 months.

The term stands for haemoglobin A1C or glycated haemoglobin, a molecule that forms when glucose joins with a protein in the red blood cells called haemoglobin. Haemoglobin is what gives the red colour to the blood cells, making your blood red.
