In this version of the fight, Munkustrap and Alonzo tag in and out, but Alonzo ends up defeating Macavity, and it's Alonzo who is paired with Demeter in the final shot. (Though the colour is often so bad that you can't even pick out Munkustrap's stripes reliably, Alonzo is usually obvious by his long fluffy white tail tip, and, in close-ups, by having an armwarmer on only one arm.) Timestamps with IDs of cats under the cut.



0:10 - The three adults who greet the fake Deuteronomy on the right of the shot are Skimbleshanks with Jennyanydots and Jellylorum. Munkustrap is on the tyre, Tantomile and Coricopat crossing the stage on all fours, and Demeter and Cassandra on the left. Bombalurina re-enters and goes to Munkustrap at 0:13.


The kittens around Deuteronomy are Jemima (dark with light-striped tail, kneeling up to the left of Deut at 0:08), Tumblebrutus behind Deut (he spins at 0:10), Pouncival with Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer closest to the audience, and Victoria closest to Jellylorum's legs.


Alonzo is not onstage here - he was probably the 'Macavity decoy' who crossed the stage just before fake Deuteronomy appeared, so the actor would be in the wings hastily shedding the Macavity outfit and mask.


0:25 - When Demeter scatters the kittens, it's Rumpelteazer who moves furthest away from the group, sliding right downstage. She then tries to prevent Mungojerrie from approaching the imposter again. Pouncival sticks with Mungojerrie, Tumblebrutus moves back to the car, and Jemima goes offstage


0:40 - At the reveal, Tumblebrutus heads for his favourite position, climbing up the bedframe on the side of the stage.


0:44 - The first cat we see try to attack Macavity is actually Cassandra! Followed by Munkustrap on the other side, two seconds later. That's still Munkustrap in front of the car at 0:50.


0:58 - Mungojerrie tries to attack him from the side.


1:08 and 1:15 - Munkustrap tries to stop him taking Demeter.


1:27 - a wild Alonzo appears! Alonzo lifts her from between them and carries her away. Poor Munkustrap gets knocked over yet again.


1:33 - talk to the hand! Though they're just out of frame, Munkustrap and Alonzo are now facing him from either side - Alonzo to the right of the shot and Munkustrap to the left. Note Alonzo's gloved (not fluffy) hand clawing into the frame. He kicks Alonzo over and fights Munkustrap.


1:44 - Alonzo crosses behind them and leaps onto the tyre.


1:55 - with Munkustrap down, Alonzo attacks.


2:27 - still Alonzo!


2:32 - Munkustrap's on his feet again! ... and immediately gets smacked down. Followed by Alonzo attacking again from the left. Alonzo doesn't stay down but chases Macavity up toward the car.


2:40 - Someone - probably Skimbleshanks, by context and the shape of the wig - is climbing up to claw at Macavity on the right side of the car. It might also be Jennyanydots or Jellylorum.


3:20 Demeter is looking for someone, followed by Jemima and Tumblebrutus. Rumpelteazer spots Munkustrap and crosses in front of Demeter to help (Jenny? Jelly?) tend to him. Pouncival is behind that little group, and Mungojerrie is holding the lamp (as we see more clearly later once the lights come up).
