Installing pump pump catch basin/pump station at correct location is super important. WE drill 20-30 1/3” hole into catch basin making it PERFORATED, then we rock around(at-least 8”-2ft and under(4”-8” and above to of grade(2”-1ft) with #57 drain rock All French drain lines are piped into catch basin or the rocked area near it.. the rocked area will/should HOLD ALOT OF WATER, therefore it takes longer time before you see a drawl down of water. ( This is my father idea w/ added upgrades)

Note: this sump catch basin has two 4” drain/legs piped into it, those pipes and catch basin are FULL OF WATER, so the water drawl-down you can actually see will be delayed. 1/3HP PUMP w/ 3/4” pipe is large enough for a discharge. 3/4hp or higher you MUST use a bigger discharge pipe.

NOTE: this was filled to TOP for TESTING PURPOSES only, the pump will turn on before. Water levels get to over the top of sump pump, unless you overwhelmed the pump with do many drain lines or to much water RUN-OFF.

-The reason you can reduce down from 1-1/4” discharge to 3/4” is because the HP of pump(higher HP, and longer the pipe to discharge point, bigger pipe you must have )
