Well if this isn't intimidating, I don't know what is! Posting a beginning video that lends itself to a lot of improvement. We started training with Ali and Mary through the online class Riding For Lightness. I am limited to ground work for a while, as the temperatures plummeted to 30 below zero with -55 degree windchill. It was only 5 below when we did this video - but the sun was out and we were both happy to do some work finally!
The first Module of Riding for Lightness has been posted and Mody and I are doing our best to make the instructors proud. I am still quite fumble-y with the reins and whip, but I am sure it will become second nature soon.
Watching yourself on video is so enlightening. I was quite sure (while I was working) that all of my timing was spot on, and my requests clear and concise. .... I am not so sure after I watch the truth-telling replay.
I can see that I need to pick up my tempo in order to give Mody more Go than Whoa. And maybe a little more patience while asking him to drop his head. It didn't feel like I was fighting him so much, but after seeing the video, it looks like I am tugging the reins far too much.
Let's hope our #2 video shows much improvement. Follow me to watch my progress!
