Boots Farewell

Boots first started showing discomfort while eating in the early spring, prompting diagnostic tests and a tentative treatment plan. Unfortunately, her symptoms didn’t improve. Recent medical tests revealed cancer in Boots’ throat—after thorough evaluation and consideration, her caretakers decided her quality of life was at stake, and the decision was made to move forward with humane euthanasia.

She was often described as the sassiest, most vocal seal at the aquarium. She was known for hanging upside down in the water and people watching; behind-the-scenes, she enjoyed sunbathing and working with her caretakers. In her excitement for training sessions, she would wave her flippers, vocalize, and blow bubbles at the water’s surface.
