I Have Confidence Live Cover from the musical, The Sound of Music

What a classic! The Sound of Music was one of the first musicals I ever watched, along with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins! Classic! Calamity Jane and West Side Story are definitely up there too, but I just had to revisit Maria from The Sound of Music made famously by Julie Andrews.

Because I grew up watching these Golden Age Musicals, my first experience of singing was in this style. In choirs I would be put as soprano (a lot has changed since then!) and my go to songs would always be something legit and lyrical. I've grown to love contemporary musicals and that pop sound, but this will always have a special place in my heart!

It's good to keep challenging your voice, and wow was this song a challenge! The tempo, the placement and the style of the song. I'm so used to, especailly now, singing in more of a pop/mix belt/contemporary way, that I had to change most of that for this song. But it's good, keeps the muscles working!
