In this video Victor Muñoz Sanz will talk about the influence of Big Data systems on human and non-human life and their buildings. He will show you his research on automated productive landscapes.

Víctor Muñoz Sanz is an assistant professor of urban design at TU Delft. His research focuses on the implications for architecture and urbanization of technological transitions. Víctor holds a degree in Architecture and a PhD cum laude from ETSA Madrid, and a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University. He was a postdoctoral researcher at TU Delft in the project ‘Cities of Making’, and fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude. Prior to that, he was coordinator of the Jaap Bakema Study Centre, co-principal researcher of ‘Automated Landscapes’ at Het Nieuwe Instituut, and Emerging Curator at the Canadian Centre for Architecture. He is the co-editor of Habitat: Ecology Thinking in Architecture (2020) and an editor of the journal Footprint. His research on Automated Landscapes was exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2018.

What is INDESEM?
For one full week, students from all over the world will come together to engage in conversation with tutors, architects and theorists about the current and future position of the architect within the emerging data-supported society. In 2021, INDESEM will happen the 28th of May until the 4th of June.

The programme of the INDESEM seminar week consists of lectures, excursions and a workshop, all organized around a specific contemporary theme, this year we will be exploring the influence of data within the built environment. Every edition of the seminar aims to raise awareness about this theme and its consequences for the architectural-practice, in which both faculty and international students embark on an accompanying specifically themed design project.
