LIBÉRICA - El Pardal (Manel Fortià, feat. Alba Careta)

The band Libérica, led by bassist Manel Fortià, release a new single with a renewed line-up, which includes the addition of the splendid singer and trumpet player Alba Careta, who will also be on the new album, which will be released in January 2025.
El Pardal is a traditional song from the Pyrenean valleys of Empordà and Roussillon, which Manel Fortià discovered while searching through the Càntut archive. He immediately imagined Pere Martínez singing it with his flamenco sensitivity and expressiveness. That is why he presents us with a trademark arrangement that goes through tientos, tangos and tanguillos, following the story that the song tells us, and also dialoguing with a traditional flamenco song (“que pájaro será aquella”). Alba Careta’s sweet voice introduces us to the story that, as it progresses, takes on character and rhythm, passing through freedom and leading to the festivity that it provokes.
