Cheap Submersible Pump Review Broken Down, Dismantled Draper and Examined after early failure

Описание к видео Cheap Submersible Pump Review Broken Down, Dismantled Draper and Examined after early failure

Purchased around a year ago, this Draper 350 watt submersible water pump with float switch packed up working today. It has only been used to move water from a rain-barrel to a storage tank intermittently. The pump worked well for around 1 year before it failed. So I decided to investigate why a pump designed to be submerged in water would fail.

There are special screws holding the pump housing to the motor body which prevent people like me from opening up the pump when it stops working.
After the body was separated, it quickly became apparent that the housing was heavily corroded and clearly not fit for purpose. I had the idea initially to put new brushes in, thinking one of them could have failed. How wrong was I. This pump is designed to fail, but even worse than yet another Rip Off Britain Example, anyone knows that if you put mild steel corroding parts, water and electricity together it is a recipe for disaster. Do yourself a favour and do not buy one of these pumps.
On opening up the motor housing, it was found to have been leaking water into the electrics, with rusty water present, clearly this pump was beyond the scope of repair and indeed was designed for the garbage bin.

The pump before this was a Clarke Junior Hippo. This also failed after 2 years, in this case the impeller had corroded completely away. Again avoid Clarke Hippo Pumps. http://www.clarkeservice.co.uk/manual...
