مرحبا (Marhaba)! Welcome back to Learn Islam with HU!
Today , we're starting Lesson 1, Book 3, where we'll delve into the fundamentals of Arabic grammar: معرب (Mu'rab) and مبني (Mabni).
Main Lesson
In Arabic grammar, معرب (Mu'rab) refers to words that change their endings depending on their position in a sentence. These are basically nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
We can think of them as building blocks that can be adjusted to fit the structure of the sentence.
On the other hand, مبني (Mabni) refers to words that always have the same ending, regardless of their position in a sentence. These include prepositions, conjunctions, and some pronouns.

They act more like fixed elements that hold the sentence together.

Examples:

Let's see some examples. Here's the word "كتاب (Kitab)" meaning "book."
If we say "أنا أقرأ كتابًا (Ana Aqra Kitaban)," meaning "I am reading a book," the word "كتاب (Kitab)" has the ending "ًا (an)" because it's in the accusative case.
But if we say "هذا كتابٌ (Hadha Kitabun)," meaning "This is a book," the ending changes to "ٌ (un)" because it functions differently in the sentence.
Host: Now, for an example of a مبني (Mabni) word, let's take the preposition "في (Fi)" meaning "in."
Whether we say "في المدرسة (Fi l-Madrasah)" meaning "in the school" or "في البيت (Fi l-Bayt)" meaning "in the house," the word "في (Fi)" always stays the same.

Practice and Wrap-up :

Understanding معرب (Mu'rab) and مبني (Mabni) is essential for building proper sentence structure in Arabic.
As you progress in your learning, you'll encounter more specific rules about how معرب (Mu'rab) words change.
For now, practice identifying these two categories of words in simple sentences.
