By 1954, Walt Disney had been working seriously on his theme park for a few years. He'd dreamed about it for decades, experimented with building model towns and displays, he'd assembled an unparalleled team of creative minds to work on it. Only problem was: he couldn't afford it.

He'd spent the last couple years trying to negotiate a deal for a television network to partner on funding the park, in exchange for a Disney-produced weekly television show. When the deal finally gets made, the result is Walt Disney's Disneyland - a television show that will bring Uncle Walt into the homes of millions of Americans over the coming years.

In this seven part series, we explore the experiences that shaped Walt Disney's desire to build his own magical world, and how he eventually came to realize that dream.
