Over the last ten years or so, big "S" brand mattress manufacturers have transitioned their mattresses to be single sided. They have primarily done this to increase their profits. Their mattresses still have the same retail price as the used to, but they just don't seem to last as long. In fact, that is okay with the major mattress brands because it means you will have to buy a new mattress sooner which means they sell more mattresses. Two-sided mattresses can still be found in the market and actually have a very similar retail price as their single sided counterpart. You would expect two-sided beds to be more, but they just aren't. The important thing to know is that with the flexibility of flipping and rotating a two-sided mattress, it will last a lot longer than a one sided version.
