Blue Jay Way - West Hollywood Hills
West Hollywood / Los Angeles
Episode 130

“Blue Jay Way" is a song by the Beatles. Written by George Harrison, it was released in 1967 on the group's Magical Mystery Tour EP and album. The song was named after Blue Jay Way in the Hollywood Hills, where Harrison stayed in August 1967. The lyrics document Harrison's wait for music publicist Derek Taylor to find his way to 1567 Blue Jay Way (12:59) through the fog-ridden hills, while Harrison struggled to stay awake after the flight from London to Los Angeles.

“Blue Jay Way” wasn’t one of my favorite Beatles songs, but the neighborhood is still pretty nice. This trip starts on the Sunset Strip and turns North into the West Hollywood Hills (02:50) where we wind up, down and across until we get to Blue Jay Way (10:20).
