A pedestrian is spending their Christmas Day fighting for their life in hospital after a car mowed down several people in the West End in the early hours.

Four people were injured, and the driver, a 31-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Scotland Yard say the incident is not terror related and is being linked to a nightclub in Covent Garden.

The Met Police say the suspect was involved in an altercation at a nightclub before getting in his car and “mounting the pavement”.

The force were called at 12.45am on Christmas Day following reports of a collision and a car driving on the wrong side of the road on Shaftesbury Avenue.

A pedestrian was left fighting for their life and three other pedestrians have been rushed to hospital.

The Met Police confirmed that the incident is not being treated as terrorism.

Blood and items of clothing including a jacket, shoes and a hat could be seen strewn across the pavement in front of a Caffe Concerto on Wednesday morning.
