In 2025, Lewis Hamilton will fulfil a childhood dream by driving for Ferrari. This is a major change of trajectory as he approaches the end of his Formula 1 career, as not only has he been racing for Mercedes since 2013, but he has also been with the Mercedes brand since 1998, when he joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme at the age of 13. Six of his seven Drivers’ titles have come with a Mercedes car, and all seven of them have come with a Mercedes engine. A lot of people were laughing when he left McLaren for Mercedes, but Hamilton had the last laugh. There have been some lows, but a lot more highs.

Today, I’m going to rank all 12 of Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes seasons from worst to best. Since he has enjoyed abnormally good reliability since joining Mercedes, with only seven mechanical retirements from almost 250 starts, it makes it much easier for me to do this based on his own driving performances.

In a few days’ time, Hamilton will complete his final race with Mercedes, and the curtain will drop on what has been both the longest and most successful driver-team partnership in Formula 1 history. So, let’s get into it.
